Will every mechanical engineer gets a good job?

Suppose you were hiring sombody for a job, and you had two applicants. One of them went through college and got top grades. The other one failed part of the course.

Of course you would hire the guy that failed the course, right…?

Welcome to the real world. Sure, some mech engineers will "get good jobs" - but only if they deserve them.

is it really hard to get a job in engineer major?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

I want to go to aeronautical engineer,
is it really hard to get a job relate to that major?
And what about mechanical? what job i can get with mechanical engineer?
What is the average salary in aeronautical engineer and mechanical engineer?

and btw, what is biomedical engineer?

Thank you!

Chemical & Aerospace (not Aeronautical) Engineers make the most $$.
However, be careful because that is changing.

Jobs & $$ in the future are Petroleum, Chemical, and BioMedical (creating synthetic body parts, etc.).

mechanical engineer having a technical job?

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Well, I LOVEE doing hands on work and getting my hands dirty. But out in the job market, jobs seem to only be for mechanical engineers. What I would like to know is can I be able to hold a mechanical engineering job but do the hands on work? Or is that not possible?

Everything is possible. Most M. Engineers have do their jobs by hand in the field. Take the example of Rigging in oil fields. Or even in maintenance jobs you will have make your hands dirty with oil, grease etc. So options are open.

How to get the software engineer job in US for indians?

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

I am about to complete my Bachelors of Engineering, I always have in my mind to work and settle in US,
So I am stucked here on how to find the job in US for my qualification and will they Recruit freshers( Indians) as the software engineer?

Hi,
I suppose you are finishing your course in May 2010. The situation right now in the US is not so welcoming that even experienced ppl get laid off. Though they say market is picking..this…that…it is ideally quite tough to find a position here. The major thing is the visa which you would require to work. In case you have a visa that permits you to work here, it would be relatively better. The other thing that you have to consider is your background ie which field of engineering. In India, if you are an electrical/mechanical/chemical engineer, you could still sneak in to IT industry. Here, you need a degree quite close to your work. Also they expect a little experience even at junior level say 6 months - 1 year. Here, ppl get that little experience through various interships during the course. I would suggest you to join some Indian company, gain some experience and get to US through them. You can still manage to settle in US after couple of yrs of experience in India, though it might take a year or two.
