How do you find jobs if you major in something that’s not "practical"?

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

For people who major in arts, history, english, anthro, or any major that other people consider hard to find jobs, what are you planning to do?

Or if you already had one, how did you arrive to it?

spin it to make your major seem relavent to the job

e.g. if your an anthro major - say - knowledge about people - how they act as individuals or in groups - is very relevant when dealing with people at work or on the client’s side

How to find babysitting jobs & how much to charge?

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

I’m 20 and a nursing student, and I’d love to start babysitting again - long story short, I loved it when I was little and it’d be great with my current schedule. So, question: when I was 12 I only charged $3 but it seems I should be able to charge a little more now, right? And more importantly how do I find jobs? Other than asking my friends who have kids, which I’ve already started doing. Thanks!

about 5 to 7 dollars per hour is a good price.be sure that you are cpr and first aid certified. be sure to know if the kids have special needs like medical conditions and allergies.you can either post your ad here or look for possible jobs. Just google ownadaycare on the net

How do you find jobs for people who prefer to not deal with people?

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

I don’t like to deal conversationally with people and I would prefer to be by myself. Are there any good jobs for this? How would I find them? I have a GED.

Yes you can apply for Night Porter positions at fast food joints. You will work by yourself overnight cleaning the restaurant. Or try a loading position at UPS, minimal contact other than communicating with fellow loaders. Janitor, garbage truck person, recycle truck person, deliver newspapers, basically any job where you don’t have to use a phone or stand behind a cash register.

How do illustrators find jobs on the internet? Do you set up a portfolio? Any good sites?

Take a look at websites such as Elance and Rentacoder where people post illustration jobs that they need doing and you can bid to win the jobs.It would certainly help if you set up an online portfolio so potential clients can see how good you are.

How do i find out jobs within Sheffield Utd or Wednesday football club? like jobs in the stadium?

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

How do i find out jobs within Sheffield Utd or Wednesday football club? like jobs in the stadium?

Well i work in the stadiums in Glasgow and it’s actually very easy. You contact the caterers and they put you in touch with an agency. See, nobody in the catering section actually works for any club, they work for a company which gives them work. If you are looking to be a steward then you need an SIA licence before you do anything.

How can I find jobs that only need service?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

A friend of mine owns a business in which he repairs and calibrates scales; for example, truck scales. He wants to find local businesses that need maintenance or calibration for their scales. I searched Craigslist, but they were all part time or full time jobs, and they just need people to work for their company. Is there a specific website in which local businesses need someone to do service for them? I really have no idea what to search for in Google nor Craigslist.

Try posting an ad on Craig’s List or in the newspaper. This will probably get the most response. As for a website that lists jobs small businesses are in need of, I do not know of any… best thing would be posting an ad or even going to small businesses personally (cold calling).

Where can i find jobs as a printed textiles and wallpaper designer?

Friday, March 26th, 2010

I am 22 and currently doing a HND in fashion and textiles specializing in print with one year left. I’m interested to find out where i can find job vacancies with design companies/fashion houses/etc, creating prints for both fabric and/or paper. I’m also interested in how easy or difficult it would be to work in this area freelance. Would really appreciate any help thanks.

How good are you in design? There are lots of online freelance jobs that are related to graphic designing. Try to visit DeviantArt.com if you are really willing to learn more about graphic designing.

How will College students feel about Leftist Agenda when they graduate and can’t find jobs?

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

When they live in the REAL WORLD and need a job to survive but can’t find any jobs- will they become conservatives like most usually do? Or do you think they’ve been brainwashed to depend on govt for cash?

I just graduated college and I did not meet a single person in four years who thought this way. I think you are way too paranoid.

College kids should be smart enough to know that they cant depend on their government for cash/jobs. If they do, they should probably go back for 4 more years.
