how is job opportunity in CANADA for Bachelor of science in IT?

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

I have BSIT, I am not Canadian, but I want to know about the opportunities for my Degree to find a job.

Canada produces about enough IT professionals for its needs. Job prospects are pretty good for Canadian grads, if they did well in school, and did internship or something for some experience. There probably would be a place for really superior experts. But for run-of-the-mill foreigners, the job prospects are not so hot as Canadians are pretty much available without the visa expense and hassle.

Job Hunting - How To Maintain The Right Level Of Expectations

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

If you are in need of a job and are unemployed at the moment, you may desperately need a job. You may also be thinking if you need to lower expectations to make it easier for you to get a job immediately. You for sure are not the only one who is in this position.

There are a lot of things that you will have to think of if you are thinking of bringing down your expectations to get a job as soon as possible. How much you need the job is one important thing you need to consider. If you have people to support at home, or if you have rents or mortgages that have to be paid back then you might be needing the job pretty quickly as otherwise you will be in more debts. You can lower expectations at least temporarily to manage with the situation.

You have to have certain expectations. Lowering them down can be done only if they are reasonable. If you want to be a doctor and are not qualified to be one then these are expectations which are just high and also unreasonable. First of all, you need to know if your expectations are reasonable enough if you are even thinking of lowering down your expectations. Opting for more realistic stuff is good. As in if you were a retail cashier before you can look into some sort of a way to get a job like a retail store manager. This is going on the right track.

Also look into what the job forecast currently if you are moving to a new industry. Taking the example given before if you are looking to be a retail manager and there are no retail stores that are coming up in your area, you may have to bring down your expectations and do change some things for the better.

If you are thinking of lowering your expectations when you are looking for a job and also if you are depending on it very much for your survival you can lower your expectations for a while and not keep it permanent. As in if you actually qualified to be a teacher at school and you have no job at the moment then you may take up being a retail store manager temporarily. You can do this till you get another job or at least till you get any other sort of teaching opportunity. You can clear off little bills that your family has to pay. You sure will get an opportunity and will get a better job for sure and one that you really deserve also and also one for which you are qualified. You should also be able to give up the job that you took up when you did not have a choice to earn for your family and yourself.

You may not be always want to take up a job that is not up to your level but in some cases you will not have a choice but to do it as it is for your own good. You will also have to keep in mind that you should be able to switch over to another job when you get one that goes in with your qualifications.

Is there job opportunity outside the Caribbean for a Process Operator with 9 years experience?

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

I have been working on an ammonia production facility for about 9 years in the Caribbean, is there job opportunity outside of the Caribbean for me? If yes can someone give me some insight?

the industiral backbone of our southern US states has weathered the world economic storm pretty well. I’m sure there are tons of jobs in that field in tennessee, the carolinas, kentucky, georgia. My company has facilities in many of those areas and we are building a new one in tenn. that will be open in a couple years and will have a large work force. I’d check stuff like monster and careerbuilder online and see what’s available

What to say to refuse job opportunity because of a better one?

Friday, March 26th, 2010

If you had 2 job offers and you already accepted one of them and would like to refuse it, what do you tell that employer?

Make ABSOLUTELY certain that you have been accepted into the second job before saying anything to the first employer who accepted you. After that, you will be burning a bridge, but it’s like "I’m terribly sorry, but I have found a similar job closer to home that pays slightly more, so I am going to take that job as of now."
